A Cohesive and Focused NQT Programme for all Schools across Devon

Our hugely successful NQT course runs in Exeter, Plymouth and Barnstaple, this will be its 4th outstanding year. This course has developed a fantastic reputation around Devon within member and non-member schools. It comprises 8 highly specialised sessions across the year and includes a focused school visit. Beyond these sessions, NQTs are offered ongoing guidance and personal support which compliments that given by the school.

Structure & Venues

8 afternoon sessions from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, plus one full day school visit.

Cohorts will be run:

South Devon & Plymouth in Ivybridge on Tuesdays

North Devon in Barnstaple on Wednesdays

Central Devon in Exeter on Thursdays

Session 1: Overview of the NQT course; entitlements; formal assessments; Teaching Standards; expectations; Collaborative working pairs; Action Research - Tutor training

October

Session 2: Assessment and data – taking learning forward

November

Session 3: Promoting progress through high quality marking feedback and effective planning and differentiation

January

Session 4: Working effectively with colleagues and teaching assistants

February

Session 5: full day school visit - Observing high quality teaching and drawing out the learning through supported coaching

March

Session 6: Promoting outstanding learning behaviours for all children; working with parents and carers to embed learning

April

Session 7: Inclusion – the progress of all groups of children
