The Primary SCITT is a one-year, full-time, school-based route to qualification as a primary teacher, preparing teachers to teach children aged 5 to 11.

On completion you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and either a Postgraduate Certificate in Education or a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) by Plymouth University.

You will spend 75% of the year in schools and 25% in centre based training. This is 3 dedicated teaching practices totalling 17 weeks and centre based-training including a 3 day residential and research based assignments. You are based in 1 partnership school or Autumn and Summer terms and a 2nd of the Spring term. Then get experience of teaching KS1 and KS2.

You will spend 25% of the year in centre based training. This includes English, Maths, Science, ICT, PE, Child Development, Behaviour Management, Diversity and Inclusion. Also the National Curriculum Foundation subjects of History, Geography, Music, Art, RE and MFL. The research based assignments enable you to related theory to practice.
